TDB Passes Surplus Budget

T’Puram: The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has passed a surplus budget of Rs 20 core for 2016-17. The revenue was estimated at Rs 687,78,99,902 and expenditure Rs 20,03,63,402.

An amount of Rs 7 crore has been allocated for computerising various temples and another Rs 7 crore for building a modern auditorium and shopping complex near the Padanayarkulangara temple at Karunagapally. An amount of Rs 5 crore has been earmarked for building an auditorium near Kannankulangara temple at North Paravur.

The TDB sathram at Varanasi will be renovated at a cost of Rs 1 crore. The board meeting attended by president Prayar Gopalakrishnan members Ajay Tharayil and P K Kumaran approved the budget.

Gets Bharat Jyothi Award

T’Puram: M Krishnan,  former chairman of Institution of Valuers (Thiruvananthapuram chapter) and retired executive engineer, Housing Board, has won the ‘Bharat Jyothi’ Award instituted by New Delhi-based India International Friendship Society.

Krishnan, who is also an approved valuer and technical arbiter, got the award in the ‘Best Chartered Engineer’ category. The award was presented by former Tamil Nadu Governor Bhishma Narayan Singh at a function held in New Delhi on March 11.

Amritotsavam Vacation Classes

T’Puram: Amritotsavam vacation classes of the Mata Amritananda Mayi Math at Kaimanom will be held from April 6 to 20 at the ashram. Children in the age group of 10 to 16 can participate in the classes, which will be held from 10 am to 5 pm. Children will have exposure to embroidery, language building, painting, cartoons, agriculture, roller skating, Yoga, meditation, kick boxing, Judo, Karate and many other things.
