Rs 546.63 Cr KAU Budget Presented

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The general council of the Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), which met here on Tuesday, passed the University budget for 2016-17.

No new announcements were made in the Rs 546.63 crore budget presented by KAU Vice-Chancellor P Rajendran. The budget envisages non-plan expenditure of Rs 378.94 crore and plan expenditure of Rs 68.11 crore as against the non-plan grant in aid of Rs 281.91 crore and plan grant in aid of Rs 65.50 crores. The reciepts under external aided projects have been pegged at Rs 78.27 crore.

Vice-chancellor P Rajendran hoped to get more grant in aid under non plan in the light of new pay revision, recruitment of staff and other unavoidable expenditure.

A separate meeting of the Council would be held to discuss detailed budgetary programmes after withdrawal of the the model code of conduct.

The meeting was attended by executive committee members Jose Joseph, Aji Francis and Finance Special Secretary E K Prakash.

Elected and nominated members of the general council and university officers participated.

Dr Jiju P Alex, V S Sathyaseelan, N L Sivakumar, Vishnu Narayanan, S Devanesan, Ashok Kumar Thekken, Sasthamangalam Mohan, Soumya Krishnan and R Krishnakumar participated in the discussions.
