THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vizhinjam police on Tuesday arrested two fishermen for allegedly murdering a 55-year-old man after kicking him out of the second floor of a building under the influence of alcohol.  The deceased is Christadima, a native of Vizhinjam. The arrested are Johnson, of Vizhinjam, and Mohammed Ali alias M R Radha, of Rameshwaram.

According to the police, the incident took place around 10 pm on Monday when Christadima arrived at an under-construction building to sleep. He used to sleep either at the Old Wharf or near the fish landing centre as he has to go for fishing in the early hours. In the night, he came to the building as it was raining outside. However, some fishermen were boozing on the second floor of the building. They abused him and told him to leave.

This led to a scuffle and the culprits kicked Christadima out of the building. In the fall, he suffered serious injuries to his head.  Though fishermen near the spot took him to hospital, he succumbed to injuries. The police booked the culprits under Section 302. They will be produced before the magistrate on Wednesday. Christadima leaves behind wife Sherley,  sons, Robert, Robinson, Sesilan and daughters Manju and Mini. The body has been handed over to the family after pot-mortem examination.
