Kerala Government to look into issues in multi marketing sector

The government has decided to look into the labour issues in the multi marketing sector and the quality of products and service offered by the firms.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has decided to look into the labour issues in the multi marketing sector and the quality of products and service offered by the firms, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed the Assembly on Tuesday. There was a need to formulate guidelines against exploitation of the consumers and the labourers, he said while replying to a submission.

The government has decided to form a committee with Civil Supplies director as nodal officer for framing the guidelines. The law officer at the Civil Supplies directorate will be the convenor of the committee. The committee will also have members from the departments of Finance, Tax, Home, Industries, Law and Gulati Institute of Finance and Taxation, Vijayan said.

He said a decision on providing welfare fund and other benefits to those working in the sector could be decided after the guidelines are framed.
