The feel-good factor

Critically acclaimed producer Deepshikha Deshmukh embraces her entrepreneurial side with a brand new organic skincare label
The feel-good factor

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:When not touring the world in support of regional as well as indie films, Deepshikha Deshmukh dedicates her energy towards building a mindful lifestyle. Having made her mark within the Indian film industry by associating with groundbreaking projects such as Madaari and Sarbjit, this youngster is venturing into the world of personal care with Love Organically, a two-week-old e-commerce platform.Born out of her effort to find a reliable skincare solution for her children, this vegan range of products are a result of Deepshikha’s research sprawling across two years. “Our first product took six months, over three dozen formulations, and 12 prototypes to come together. During those days, my folks would find me reading late at night, in the car, some days even over lunch,” shares the 34-year-old, who developed the line after consulting with a bunch of Ayurvedic and naturopathy specialists.

Nature’s best
Rooted in the concept of giving back, the ingredients that go into Deepshika’s products are sourced from organic farms across the country. Apart from the key elements such as mogra flowers, grape seeds, and geranium, the young entrepreneur has also infused her unique herbal concoctions with healing components such as neem and calendula. “Each ingredient of the 12 products we have used has a special functionality; some hydrate the skin, while others make you feel one with nature,” explains Deepshika. Divided into six property-oriented sections such as pamper, sleep, shine, nourish, heal, and glow, her website currently retails hair oils and moisturisers, along with a range of body/handwashes.

Touch of love
While incorporating trending buzzwords (like ‘cruelty-free’) into her brand philosophy, Deepshikha has left no stone unturned. From the use of biodegradable FSC paper and recyclable PP bottles to labels printed using vegetable ink, her endeavour ticks all the boxes, when it comes to sustainability. “Our focus extends not only to the sourcing, manufacturing, and packaging of our products but supporting families of the growers and nurturers – our farmers,” she elaborates, adding that they have also associated with Snehwan, a Mumbai-based NGO that supports children of drought-affected
farmers.
