THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: eight-feetA 10-feeteight feet wide cake, weighing a whopping 305 kg, was prepared in the capital on Tuesday evening as part of the Valentine’s Day celebration.
The heart-shaped giant red velvet cake was prepared by chefs of Uday Samudra Leisure Beach Hotel and Spa, Kovalam. The cake, with strawberry filling and rum ganache, was topped with red velvet icing and decorated with red velvet muffins,
The cake was made as part of ‘Valentine Rhapsody’ a poolside party held at the beach hotel to mark Valentine’s Day. The cake was designed by pastry chef Hari Nair with the support and leadership of chef Rhynold, executive chef of UDS, and his team. Couples who attended the programme got a chance to pose for selfies near the giant cake.
Over 50 couples participated in the Valentine’s Day gala event.
“The aim of promoting such events is to boost the tourism activities and promote Kovalam as a preferred beach destination for honeymooners,” said Raja Gopaal Iyer, CEO of UDS Group.
