THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In order to strengthen its connectivity with the people living in its limits, Thiruvambadi panchayat has come up with a mobile-based application. The innovative app christened ‘Ente Thiruvambadi’ will act as a platform for the public to submit their complaints and give suggestions that will improve the activities of the local body. It will also be a space where the public can scrutinise the various development initiatives undertaken by the local body.

This is not the first initiative undertaken by the local body. “We had launched a Facebook page called ‘Thiruvambadi Panchayat’ in order to connect with the people. The FB account provided a platform for the public to submit their suggestions and complaints regarding the activities of the panchayat.

The proposed mobile-based application will be an innovative version of this initiative,” says panchayat president P T Augustine. “The application will have features like a  comprehensive history of the local body and the details of various development programmes initiated by the civic body. A telephone directory with details of the doctors, transport and police departments, coconut pluckers, water suppliers etc will be one of the highlights of the application,” said Augustine.

According to him, the app will provide the public easy access to the officials of the local body and people representatives.

People can use this facility to ensure transparency in their activities, said Augustine.

“Steps are on to design the app in a user-friendly manner. Once the application is launched, people living in civic body limit can easily download it. They will be able to submit their complaints and suggestions from anywhere in the world. Any android smartphone user can download the application from the Google play store,” he added He said if the NRKs want to lodge a complaint or bring any issue related to the local body to the notice of the officials, they can easily alert them via the app, he added.
