Meghalaya woman molested on train and no one helped

A 30-year-old woman hailing from Meghalaya was allegedly molested by a person on the Guwahati Express.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 30-year-old woman hailing from Meghalaya was allegedly molested by a person on the Guwahati Express on Friday night.

According to the police, the woman is a house-maid who works in Thiruvananthapuram. On Friday night she was aboard the Guwahati Express, returning to Thiruvananthapuram from her native place. When the train passed Thrissur, a stranger came and sat next to her and started touching her inappropriately. The harassment continued till the train reached Ernakulam South railway station.

According to the woman, co-passengers did not help when she sought their help. The man got down at Ernakulam South.The woman filed a complaint with the Railway Police at Thampanoor in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. Her statement has been recorded and a probe has been initiated. Efforts are on to trace the culprit, said sub-inspector R Roj.
