THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A preliminary report of the Agriculture Department has pegged total drought-induced crop damage in the state, as on February 10, at a whopping Rs 279.66 crore.
As many as 29,306 farmers have affected, and crop damage has hit a total 28,569.74 hectares.
The government proposes to provide a total assistance worth `91.11 crore, according to the report. In the matter of crop damage, Palakkad district tops the list; 14,234.87 hectares affected, hitting the livelihood of 8,112 farmers.
Total loss in the district has been pegged at `59.65 crore. Kasargod has reported total crop loss to the tune of ` 67.93 crore.
