Chargesheet to be filed on Thursday

The special investigation team probing the murder of RSS Karyavahak S L Rajesh at Sreekariyam has cited local political feud as the cause for the murder.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The special investigation team probing the murder of RSS Karyavahak S L Rajesh at Sreekariyam has cited local political feud as the cause for the murder.

In the chargesheet, which will be submitted before the magistrate on Thursday, the probe team said Rajesh and the accused - allegedly members of DYFI - had been at loggerheads for quite some time. There was constant friction between the leaders of both the parties over installing flags and posters, investigators said in the chargesheet.

The officers also said the accused were involved in criminal activities in the past. About 11 accused persons are presently serving remand custody. The chargesheet will be later considered by the Sessions Court to begin the trial proceedings.

The 34-year old Rajesh, the RSS Karyavahak of Edavacode, was found murdered in front of a shop at Vinayak Nagar near Sreekariyam in the last week of July after he was allegedly hacked by local DYFI activists.

Eleven persons were arrested in connection with the incident. The key accused, Manikuttan had served jail term twice earlier under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA).
