THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM state secretariat on Tuesday lambasted the SDPI for unleashing the ‘Taliban model’ of violence in Kerala. The party, which is set to strengthen its campaigns and agitations against communalism in the wake of SFI leader Abhimanyu’s murder at Maharaja’s College in Ernakulam on Monday, came down heavily on SDPI for its involvement in the incident. It also flayed the RSS, saying both RSS and SDPI were two sides of the same coin and were operating in the same manner to create communal polarisation.
“SFI leader Abhimanyu of Maharaja’s College in Ernakulam was brutally murdered by SDPI in a planned manner. Other incidents of violence at Alappuzha and Kottarakkara should not be treated as isolated incidents,” the party alleged. “SDPI is trying to spread violence across the state. So far, they have killed nine CPM workers,” the CPM state secretariat said, adding SDPI had been trying to create communal polarisation in Kerala by creating the impression people should unite against majority communalism.
“RSS is doing the same thing. They are two sides of the same coin. Such activities by SDPI will strengthen Sangh Parivar forces,” the CPM said. It said Campus Front – a wing of PFI – was operating like a communal organisation. “Since they felt SFI’s influence could hinder their growth, they have come out with planned moves to spread fear and create an atmosphere of terror. People should be cautious against such forces,” the party said.
