THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rights of people like S Hareesh and Gauri Lankesh, who dared to raise their voices, should be fought for, said filmmaker Kavitha Lankesh, on Monday. “We need to have a unity, a network. When Gauri tried to make people let go of their weapons, she was ironically termed as a ‘Naxalite sympathiser’.

"We should unite and protest against such threats and isolation," she said at the ‘In Conversation’ session at the International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala.

On life after Gauri’s demise, she said: “We understand the gravity of the terror only when it happens to someone close.”Good films should reach the people. Let the movies speak for themselves, Kavitha Lankesh added.
