Vijayawada: Ganja peddlers nabbed after hot pursuit

Commissioner’s Task Force (CTF) sleuths nabbed two ganja smugglers after a hot pursuit  during vehicle checking at the Pottipadu toll gate late on Sunday night.

VIJAYAWADA: Commissioner’s Task Force (CTF) sleuths nabbed two ganja smugglers after a hot pursuit during vehicle checking at the Pottipadu toll gate late on Sunday night.Following a tip-off from their sources about ganja being smuggled from Visakha Agency to Hyderabad, CTF sleuths formed a team and started checking vehicles at Pottipadu toll gate on Sunday night.

At around 11 pm, an Innova, bearing the registration number AP05 BP 4992, in its bid to escape from the police, sped down the road after ramming into a police vehicle. Displaying remarkable presence of mind, the police chased after the fleeing vehicle and caught up with it at Kannur village.

The smugglers were finally taken into custody after a three-hour chase. From the smugglers, CTF officials seized around 300 kgs of ganja packed in polythene covers.“We seized 300 kg ganja worth around `50 lakh and the car. The investigation is on,” said a senior CTF official.
