With players like National Skill Development Corporation and others trying to bridge the gap between employment and skills, edex presents a round-up of professional certifications that can aid career enhancement not only in the Britain, but across the world too.

English language

BC offers CELTA (Certificate in teaching English to speakers of other languages) and TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test). “Qualifications like CELTA and TKT can open up a world of opportunities. They are the minimum requirement for teaching English in language schools and universities in the UK and are accepted elsewhere too,” says Helen a teacher at BC. BC has been offering CELTA for 10 years now in Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai. “Four courses are scheduled in each centre. A course runs for four weeks and covers 120 hours of teaching,” explains Helen. CELTA costs a whopping `1.3 lakh. “This is because we need to fly in tutors and it’s not a bad bargain when you look at the opportunities the qualification brings you,” justifies Helen. To teach at BC itself, these certifications can come in handy, adds Helen.

For medical training in the UK, you can look at exams such as The Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) Test, Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), International Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP), Fellowship of the Royal College Of Surgeons (FRCS), The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Registrations will have to made with the respective boards in UK Teaching programmes

Finance and accountancy

The UK’s finance and accountancy schools are world-renowned and closely linked with commerce and industry. Some of the most popular exams include Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCI), The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), The Actuarial Profession, The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
