’App-solute’ world for this college student

Twenty-year-old, BCA student from T John College in Bangalore, Febin John James is also known as the ‘app expert’. He has received several accolades for developing apps. Febin was also one of among the top four app makers at the Apigee Hack-athon event where  he was the only student participant. “I started developing apps on Windows, then moved onto Blackberry and Intel. There is no particular timings for working on an app and I usually work through the nights. I try to balance both studies and developing an app” he says.

At the Hack-A-Thon event, the criteria was to develop an App within 36 hours using the services provided by Apigee, RedBus, Data Weave and KooKoo. Febin developed an app known as ‘Smartchat’. “With this app a user can directly obtain his search results by entering his request on the search tab, without going through a search engine” he explains.

Febin has also become an MSP which stands for Microsoft Student Partner in order to represent Microsoft in various institutions. He will be trained by Microsoft after which he ought to train people on new technologies of Microsoft. Febin is also entitled to MSDN subscription which would give him access to softwares worth lakhs for free of cost.

Febin has also created a ‘Fab Memory’ app which was listed in the 50 top Apps at the App Innovation Contest conducted by Intel. About his future plans, he says, “I would like to begin a start-up specially for Class X students who can make the right career choice by using an app”.
