Vels University honours actor Vivekh and Badminton player PV Sindhu

Vels University, Chennai, held its fifth Annual Convocation on December 13. Mylswamy Annadurai, Programme Director for Indian Remote Sensing and Small, Science and Student Satellites with the Indian Space Research Organisation, delivered the convocation address. Actor Vivekh and Indian international Badminton Player and MACAU Open Title Winner PV Sindhu, were conferred honorus causa in recognition of their outstanding contributions. Ishari K Ganesh, Chancellor, E Gopinathan, Vice-Chancellor, A Jothi Murugan, Vice-President (R&D) and Aarthi Ganesh, Vice-President (Academic), of the University were present. The University conferred degrees to over 1,900 students, including  33 gold, 24 silver, 21 bronze medals apart from 145 MPhil and 16 PhD graduates.

Hallmark Business School holds Leadership Development Programme

Hallmark Business School, Tiruchy, held a three-day fully residential student Leadership Development Programme from December 5 to 7. The programme attracted over 50 participants from various colleges. The first session of the programme was leadership behaviour and bringing out the inner competencies by Senthil Kumar, Chairman, Helikx Institutions, Salem. P Jaganathan, Principal Consultant, Energetic Byz Plus, Coimbatore; Senthil Kumar AK, Trainer, You Turn, Coimbatore and Professor Bellarmen Daniel, SRM University, Chennai, were the three lecturers who conducted sessions on day two. Thulasidasan, Principal, SRV Schools, Trichy, and Professor Victor Lazarus, retd Zonal Institute Trainer, Southern Railway, Tiruchy, handled two sessions on the third day of the programme. Secretary J Jayaraman and Director R Ramesh, were present at the valedictory event.

Karunya University hosts international conference on construction technologies

The School of Civil Engineering of Karunya University, Coimbatore, organised a two-day international conference on Sustainable and Innovative Construction technologies on December 15-16. The S Sundar Manoharan, Vice Chancellor, delivered the presidential address. D Venkat Reddy, Professor, NIT, Karnataka inaugurated the CAFET-INNOVA Technical Society (CITS) as part of the conference. Prof Krishna R Reddy, University of Illinois, Chicago, US, was the Chief Guest.
