NIT Allahabad students win HackerRank’s ‘CodeSprint India 2014’ competition

HackerRank, the platform for technical assessments recently conducted the onsite finale of one of India’s biggest coding contests ‘CodeSprint India 2014’ in Bangalore. After a grueling 5 hours of coding, Akashdeep Nain and Priyank Bhatnagar from NIT Allahabad emerged winners, landing them a cash prize of `50,000. Praneeth and Surya Kiran from IIT-Roorkee who came second were awarded a cash prize of `25,000.Pushkar Singh and Vinay Guthal from IIT Hyderabad came third winning a cash prize of `15,000. Winners will also get to spend some time with Steven Skiena, a Distinguished Teaching Professor of Computer Science at Stony Brook University, New York, receive certificates from American businessman Vinod Khosla, and an opportunity to apply to top tech companies in the US like Palantir, Quora, and RocketFuel. The build up for the coding contest started a month ago on September 13 with a participation of over 8,000 teams. Harishankaran Karunanidhi, Co-founder of HackerRank, was also present at the finale.
