Noida int’l university conducts workshop on sexual harassment
Noida International University’s women cell organised a two-day seminar on sexual harassment of women at workplace. The workshop addressed the elements of how to prevent unacceptable behaviour. The workshop included a detailed overview of what sexual harassment is, discussed sexual harassment prevention and how to deal with sexual harassment complaints and maintain a positive work environment. The aim of the workshop was to spread awareness among women about sexual harassment at the work place. Shamama Ahmed, Head of the Women’s Cell said the issue of sexual harassment of women in society is on the rise. “Sexual harassment affects everyone. As an employer, you have the responsibility to maintain a workplace that is free of sexual harassment. This is your legal obligation, but it also makes good business sense. If you allow sexual harassment to flourish in your workplace, you will pay a high price in the form of poor employee morale, low productivity, and lawsuits,” she said. Addressing the seminar, Noida Int’l University’s VC, Vikram Singh, talked about some strategies for prevention of sexual harassment at workplace and how to recognise correct and incorrect behaviour. “Monitor your work place. Talk to your employees periodically. Talk to them about the work environment. Ask for their inputs. Look around the workplace and watch out for offensive posters or notes,” he advised.
National Biennial award for IIM-B Professor Pulak Ghosh
Professor Pulak Ghosh from the Quantitative Management Information Systems area at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B), has been selected as one of the two joint winners to be awarded the National Biennial award 2015 for outstanding contribution to the field of Statistics to Indians below 45 years. Kalasalingam University to launch MArch in Habitat Design
Adding another feather to its cap, Kalasalingam University, Tamil Nadu is planning to launch an MArch course in Habitat Design from the upcoming academic year. “Architects can contribute immensely towards the creation of better buildings, livable urban habitat and creation of sustainable cities with minimal impact on the natural environment. Kalasalingam School of Architecture hopes to train architects with international competence but rooted in reality who will contribute to the development of the society and the nation at large. So, the management plans to have various MArch programmes, with MArch-Habitat Design leading the way with the approval of Council of Architecture, which is the first MArch programme in Tamil nadu in this specialisation,” said a press release from the University. IIT-M signs MoUs with Russian universities
Indian Institute of Technology-Madras strengthened its research links with Russia by signing MoUs with National Research Tomsk State University, Tomsk, and Ural Federal University, Yekaterinburg. The agreements address various aspects of collaboration between the institutions including exchange of students and faculty, joint workshops and symposia and joint research in disciplines.
