MDIS invites applications for MBA

The Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) invites applications for its MBA in International Marketing, and Banking and Finance. Intakes are in June and November. MDIS also offers Merit Scholarships (International), awarded to qualified students on the basis of academic merit, leadership potential, special talents or other personal characteristics. These scholarships are valued at SGD$4,000 (approx Rs 1.8 lakh). Details at www.mdis.edu.sg. 

Students value other factors above rankings

While a lot of students give considerable weightage to B-School rankings when making a choice to study abroad, the reality is far from it asserts the new Prospective Students Survey from Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). The survey which viewed about 12,000 participants registered on GMAC’s official website, www.gmac.com, says that students tend to consider other factors such as type of programme offered, accreditation, faculty quality, tuition fees and recogniton above rankings.

MSc Finance programmes from Loughborough

The School of Business and Economics at UK-based Loughborough University has introduced three MSc programmes — Finance, Corporate Finance, and Finance and Investment. The one-year full-time applied, broad-based MSc programmes have been designed for students who wish to gain an in-depth understanding of the whole field of finance and make the most sought-after careers in the finance sector. The school is also offering cent, 25 and 50 per cent scholarships. Those wishing to apply should have a minimum of 60 per cent in Business, Maths, Physics, Engineering, Computing or Finance. Awards from Newcastle Business School

Newcastle University Business School, UK, has announced the Business School Excellence Scholarships. £5,000 (approx Rs 5 lakh) will be awarded towards tuition to high achieving students from India starting with one of the specified Master’s degree programmes for 2015 entry. Some of the eligible courses include Arts, Business and Creativity, Human Resource Management, Banking and Finance and International Business Management.
