Panimalar comes thumbs up at Women’s Volley Ball meet

The Tamilnadu State Level Anna University Inter-Zonal Volley ball (Women) Tournament was held at Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology, Pudukkottai on December 20 and 21, 2014. Shri.Jayabarathan Chelliah, Chairman, Mount Zion Educational Institutions presided over the inaugural function and delivered the Presidential address. Prof Jayson K Jayabarathan, Director, Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology welcomed the gathering. Prof D Arivuoli, Chairman — Sports board, Anna University and S Sundararajan, Deputy Director of Physical Education and Secretary, Anna University, were the Chief Guests. Panimalar Engineering College, Chennai, won the women’s title and JJ college of Engineering and Technology, Tiruchy, and Kings College of Engineering and Technology were placed second and third respectively. Florence Jayabarathan, Vice-chairperson, Mount Zion Educational Institutions, P Balamurugan, Principal, Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology and Nixon Azariah, Registrar, Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology, were also present.

Asia Pacific organises seminar on business

Asia Pacific Institute of Management, Delhi, organised a seminar on “Changing Markets and Global Business Environment”. Surinder Singla, Former Finance Minister, Punjab, was the guest peaker. He also interacted with students. The topic revolved around Indian context and covered different aspects of regulatory and policy issues of “Make in India” along with how Indian management students fit in the dynamic and ever-changing global business environment. SP Chauhan, Officiating Director of Asia Pacific Institute of management, was also present.

Ashoka and Singularity Varsity sign MOU

Ashoka University, Sonepat, Haryana, NCR Region, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singularity University (SU) in the United States. Headquartered at NASA Research Park in California, SU is exploring one of its first strategic partnerships in India focused on launching a global impact competition. Globally, Singularity University aims to develop a global network of innovation ecosystems alongside a coalition of entrepreneurs, business leaders, universities, government agencies and nonprofits. Through the partnership, the two institutions hope to mobilise future resources to tackle some of India’s challenges from food to energy, water, security, health, environment, education, poverty and space by leveraging the power of exponential and innovative technologies.

Great Lakes Institute of Management organises global marketing conference

Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, organised its eighth NASMEI (North American Society for Marketing Education in India) annual conference by the Kotler Srinivasan Center for Research in Marketing on December 26 and 27, 2014, followed by ninth Yale International conference on December 29, 2014, at its Chennai campus. Prof Bala V Balachandran, Founder, Dean and Chairman, Great Lakes Institute of Management, inaugurated the NASMEI conference in the presence of the keynote speaker Prof Raj Sethuraman, Marilyn and Leo Corrigan, Professor and Chair of Marketing, Edwin L Cox School of Business, Southern Methodist University, Dallas; Vaidy Jayaraman, Associate Dean, Great Lakes and S Bharadwaj, Director, Kotler Srinivasan Center for Research in Marketing and Chair Professor of Marketing at Great Lakes. Research papers and proposals; presentations by professors and doctoral students from institutes in US, India, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Switzerland, France and Hong Kong were presented at the conference. Shyam Sunder, James L Frank Professor of Accounting, Economics, and Finance at the Yale School of Management, addressed the students during the Yale-Great Lakes Conference.

Guest lecture on Maths at Saranathan College

The Department of Mathematics of Saranathan College of Engineering, Tiruchy, organised a guest lecture on ‘Modelling of Incomplete Information’ as part of its celebrations of the 127th Birth Anniversary of Mathematian Srinivasa Ramanujan on December 22, 2014. V Lakshmana Gomathi Nayagam, NIT, Tiruchy, was the keynote speaker. The lecture was attended by ME and final-year BE students, followed by an interactive session. Prof A Krishnamorthy, Dean welcomed the gathering. A Mohan, HOD, Department of Mathematics proposed the vote of thanks.
