Pvt colleges in vellore force sc/st students to pay fees

Private educational institutions in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, completely disregarding a Government Order, have been forcing students belonging to SC/ST communities to pay tuition and examination fees and several of them have not been allowed to appear for the examination over non-payment of the fees. The failure of authorities to act promptly has given a free hand to the institutions to harass the students demanding that they pay the fee in contravention of the order of June 2012. A group of second and third-year students of Ranipet Institute of Technology said they had not received scholarship of Rs 21,700 per year since their first-year. 

India’s first pvt engg  college set for 70-yr fete

BMS College of Engineering, the first private engineering institute in the country, was founded in 1946. In the run-up to its 70th anniversary, the college is hosting international conferences and workshops all year. Located near the Dodda Ganeshana Gudi temple (Basavangudi), it was one of Bangalore’s only two engineering colleges for many years. The college was established by philanthropist BM Sreenivasaiah. From just three undergraduate courses, the college — attached to the All India Council for Technical Education, Delhi, and affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi — offers 13 UG and 16 PG courses.

Amrita varsity to launch integrated study centre

The first centre for integrated study, research and patient care in Allopathy, Ayurveda and Yoga will come up in Kochi under Amrita University. The Amrita Institute of Integrated Medicine and Research Centre is planned as a centre to integrate the holistic vision and therapeutic range of Indian systems of healthcare with the analytical, diagnostic and prognostic proficiency of modern medical sciences. Amrita School of Ayurveda and Hospital, Amrita School of Biotechnology, both in Kollam, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Amrita Centre for Nanosciences and Molecular Medicine and Amrita School of Pharmacy — all under the Amrita University will be part of the integrated Centre.

IIT-hyderabad to get a new campus

IIT-Hyderabad will shift to a new campus by March this year. The new campus will be based out of Kandi village of Medak district. The institute will be the first of the newly-formed IITs to have a permanent campus.
