Record Voter Turnout in Rajasthan

Rajasthan on Thursday registered 63.43 per cent polling in the first phase for 20 Lok Sabha seats, setting a new voter turnout record. The voting turn out is 15 per cent more than the last 2009 Lok Sabha elections. The highest turnout- 60.26 per cent - was recorded in 1998. Ganganagar recorded the highest turnout of 72.74 per cent, followed by Barmer, with 71.6 per cent. The key candidates among a total of 239 whose fate has been sealed in the EVMs include Union Minister and state congress chief Sachin Pilot from Ajmer, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s son Dushyant Singh from Jhalawar, Union Minister and senior Congress leader Girija Vyas, Senior Congress leader C P Joshi and Union Minister Chandresh Kumari Katoch.
