Over 28 per cent Polling Registered in Jharkhand till Noon

An estimated 28.03 per cent polling was registered till 11 am in the four Lok Sabha constituencies of Jharkhand during the third and last phase of polling in the state today.      

Chief Electoral Officer P K Jajoria said polling was going on peacefully in Dumka, Raj Mahal, Godda and Dhanbad Lok Sabha constituencies.   

In view of the sweltering heat, the administration has made arrangements for providing drinking water and chairs for senior citizens and the physically challenged persons, the sources said.   There was a report of a defect in an EVM at Police Lines in Dhanbad which was immediately repaired, the sources said.       

A Dumka report said elderly persons were seen in large numbers in the polling booths.      

There are a total of 72 candidates in the fray and an electorate of 61,04,050, including 28,84,434 women, are eligible to cast their votes in 7,454 booths of the four constituencies.            

Jharkhand had its first phase polling for four seats on April 10 and second phase polling for six seats on April 17 respectively.
