RAIPUR: The Congress has announced 72 of its candidates in Chhattisgarh so far, but kept the Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (J) led by former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi on the tenterhooks over his wife Dr Renu Jogi’s fate.

Renu, an ophthalmologist, won on Congress ticket twice from Kota. Jogi is willing to offer Renu a JCC (J) ticket. But, the Congress leader has so far not followed in the footsteps of her husband and son Amit in rebelling against the parent party.

Party leaders are, however, sceptical about her allegiance. “...She has not been speaking out on the prospect of the Congress forming the government in Chhattisgarh,” a senior Congress leader told TNIE.

Renu was ousted from the post of state vice-president earlier this year. The Congress leader, however, asserted that she would remain with the party. Seven candidates have staked their claim for a Congress ticket from Kota.
