Theeya Velai Seiyanum Kumaru was tempting: Balaji

He’s a well-known RJ, but not many know that Balaji is now part of a first full-length feature film, Theeya Velai Seiyanum Kumaru (TVSK) directed by Sundar C.

Speaking to CE, RJ Balaji reveals, “After hosting a reality show on TV, I thought the visual medium was not for me. But I appeared as a show host in Vallinam and Ethirneechal on request from friends. However, Sundar C’s offer to do a full-fledged role Karna, as hero Siddharth’s childhood friend, was a tempting one. Sundar C is an established director and a thorough professional, who knew me through my radio programmes. But I wanted to make sure I could pull it off and took two days to decide.”

But now Balaji admits that acting in TVSK was the best decision.  “Sundar C gave me the freedom to write my own dialogues and witty one liners. It was a fun experience.” So will he continue acting? “As an RJ, my spontaneity is my strength. In cinema, you need to rehearse to get the punch line right, so I have to get used to that. So only if I have fun doing a role, I’ll take it up. But I love being an  RJ and I’ll never leave radio!”
