Short skirts and Sherlyn Chopra. MTV fans around the country couldn’t ask for a spicier season six of Splitsvilla, ready to hit screens this weekend. Add to that resident co-host, Nikhil Chinapa, who jokes, “I keep asking the producers to let me host the show in my bathrobe, but they’ve refused again.” Sitting with the VJ on set at a resort by the romantic backwaters of Kerala, one has to believe it was a male producer that closed the deal on that one.
Degrees of hotness
On the bright side, the male ‘Splitsvillains’ on the latest season of the show have no reservations on showing off their bare chests. Hence the show’s theme: Hot as Hell. If you haven’t watched the show before, the format is simple. Eight men and eight women will be taken through a series of tasks where only the only ‘hotties’ survive. A King and Queen are voted upon, while the rest of their subjects (contestants) remain to prove themselves desirable - both physically as well as on grounds of attitude, strength, competitiveness and a sense of confidence.
“Our contestants are as hot as ever this year and I think we’ve got a great mix of people this season.” He pauses, before dropping us some bait, “You know all the contestants have a drive to prove themselves, but there is one guy who is extra endearing,” says Chinapa. Apparently, the girls in the villa call him the guy with the ‘killer smile’. But just as the host is about to give us a name, he is hushed by one of the producers. And instead, the anchor rushes off to give the contestants their latest task-a South Indian filmy dance-off.
Sherlyn plays host
One of the mid-season tasks on the show, you can look forward to some heavy-duty lungi moves and a seductive item number her by Chopra herself on the episode. Asked about role, the Kamasutra 3D actor responds, “I’m hosting a new segment called the Hotness Quotient or HQ. I think my favourite task was our photo shoot for the ‘hottest lips’.” The actor giggles, “Some of those were so sexy using their props-strawberries, chocolate, syrup. I don’t know how guys managed to stay calm!”
