Great responsibility to make meaningful cinema: Producer Nishant Kaushik

MUMBAI: Nishant Kaushik has produced many films as a producer. However, ‘Chhoriyan Chhoron Se Kam Nahi Hoti’ and ‘Kaagaz’ are critically acclaimed and produced under the banner of Satish Kaushik Entertainment. Nishant is the nephew of actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik.

Nishant insists that his outlook towards work is very different because he started working quite early in life and had faced a lot of hardships. “I had my stint with a renowned production house as a production manager. I got an opportunity to learn the tricks of the trade there. Since then, there has been no looking back for me,” he says.

Having a veteran like Satish Kaushik as his uncle, Nishant admits that the former’s work has been instrumental in forming his perspective towards cinema. “Satish Kaushik’s filmography is vast. He is an institute in himself. He has not only performed as an actor but also donned the director's hat for various films. Watching him direct and act has made me look at content with a 360 degree view. His experience has inspired me to create content of different genres to cater to different classes of people,” he says.

Satish worked with Nishant as an actor in both his productions till now, with Kaagaz being directed by him. Now they are collaborating again on Kaagaz 2.

Nishant has a vision in sight for the future. “We want to tell stories that are relatable to today's generation. We want to make very believable and realistic cinema. I strongly believe that cinema has the power to entertain as well as influence the audience. It is a medium of education if executed correctly. We aim at creating a perfect balance between entertaining and influencing the audience. As filmmakers, we need to make sure that our films are in no way creating a negative impact on the viewers. It is a great responsibility to make meaningful cinema that an audience can relate to in a very positive way,” he concludes.
