Shyamalan’s back with another thriller

Indian-American screenwriter Manoj N Shyamalan, who is the brain behind classics such as  Praying with Anger, Wide Awake, The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable’  Signs, The Village, Lady in the Water, ‘and more, is now back with a bang with his latest sci-fi thriller After Earth starring real life father-son duo-Will Smith and Jaden Smith.

The story is set 1,000 years after the disintegration of the Earth following which, humans have moved to a new terrain called Nova Prime.

A peacekeeping organisation attached to Nova Prime called The Ranger Corps is set in motion on a trip back to the Earth and is headed by General Cypher Raige (Will Smith) while his son Kitai (Jaden Smith), a recruit of the Ranger Corps is also on the space ship. A freak crash in space lands the ship on an asteroid field. The father-son duo are alone lucky to survive and has to encounter danger on the new unknown terrain.

Will Smith was fascinated by the idea of making  a thriller about a car crash amidst nowhere. He then  decided to rope-in Shyamalan to help with the project.
