MUMBAI: The film 'Raajneeti' has already become the talk of the town with such a controversial topic and its ensemble star cast.
The role played by Katrina Kaif is continuously speculated to have been inspired by the Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and this news has also added to the publicity of the film.
But the filmmakers have constantly denied this news and rubbished it as rumour. It is known that any publicity is good publicity but who knew that Prakash Jha will have to pay a hefty price for these rumours.
A social worker has slapped a lawsuit on Prakash Jha on account of degradation of the Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. He has stated in his lawsuit that since the role played by Katrina is based on the life of Sonia Gandhi, it is not appropriate to show her in intimate scenes with Ranbir Kapoor and that the film makers are amalgamating the image of the respected leader.
Prakash Jha has repeatedly denied that the role played by Katrina is inspired by any living person individually. He says that ‘Raajneeti’ is a film about a family with a political background and about their rise to power.
He considers Sonia Gandhi as a figure who would inspire many but is not exactly what Katrina plays in the film.
The court has adjourned the hearing till June 10. However the film’s release, on June 4, won’t be affected.
The film has gone for censorship and the court will give its verdict after going through the censor reports. This will take a few days.
