Expressing their happiness over people’s response for their movie, Madhavan says, “We are very happy that people are loving the movie and it is definitely a nice feeling.
It was a privilege working with Bipasha Basu.
She is really punctual and gets very involved with her work.
I am happy with the way things have turned out.” Elaborating more on the title of the movie, he says, “Though, we are the jodi breakers and not jodi makers in the movie, I’d say it is definitely a romantic movie.
Because, in the movie we are breaking jodis of those people, who have not found true love yet.” Jodi Breakers is a romantic comedy about two divorce lawyers — R Madhavan and Bipasha Basu, who act as jodi breakers, and look at the dysfunctional romantic relationships that lead to break-ups.
Music of the movie is composed by Salim-Sulaiman and gaining special attention is the song, Bipasha.
“I was a little apprehensive about the concept initially.
But, then when we went ahead with it, it turned out to be great.
Salim and Sulaiman have done a great job with the movie and it was an awesome experience,” recalls Bipasha.
Jodi Breakers was recently charged of plagiarism by the producers of a French film Heartbreakers, which was said to have inspired the Hindi movie, but finally the legal wings came to a conclusion that there were no overt similarities between the two films.
Commenting on this, Madhavan says, “The movie is completely original and has not been copied.”
The romantic Madhavan
Often tagged as a romantic hero, Madhavan, says he is lucky to play a romantic hero at 42.
From movies like Guru, Tanu Weds Manu and 3 idiots, Madhavan says, his different avatar in Jodi Breakers, is not a conscious attempt for an image makeover.
“In all my films, I have been this goody and a romantic boy.
But in get a little naughty in this films,” he says and adds, “My directors always make me work on a lot of romantic roles, which is good.
And when it comes to Bollywood, a majority of them have been romantic films.” Madhavan, who is also the southern sweetheart adds, “I have done quite a few serious roles in the southern film industry.” When asked if he would be working in a Tollywood movie anytime soon, “Telugu audience have threatened me, that if I don’t work in a Telugu film, they will stop watching my movies,” he says.
Explaining his priorities on signing a movie, he explains, “For me the script of a movie is important.
But, I also want a different heroine everytime,” he laughs.
The duo, who strike a great chemistry onscreen, surely do admire each other off-screen.
“I love Madhavan and he is like the ideal husband.
I would want a husband like him and I guess Sarita (his wife), will ask him for an explanation.
I have given him the job of finding me a husband,” Bipasha says, to which Madhavan adds, “A lot of my friends ask me what have I done, as Bipasha wants a husband like me.”
Bipasha’s Hyderabadi connect
Explaining about her love for the Nawabi city, Bipasha says, “Hyderabad is a very special place to me.
A lot of my films have been shot here and I have many friends here as well.
So, it is definitely a place I love.” She then goes on, “I started my career with a Tollywood film Takkari Donga, with Mahesh Babu.
It was great experience working with Jayant and Mahesh.” Talking about her future plans of working with the Telugu film industry, she says, “I haven’t got enough time to work on Tollywood films, because I am really get busy in Mumbai.
I do have a lot of friends here, and if it works out, I would surely try.” And referring to her “friends” down south, you ask her she is dating someone, she quickly replies, “No, I am not seeing anyone.
Why don’t you find one for me.?” and her co-star also quickly laughs and adds, “She is seeing me!”
