Raju Hirani

Besides producing his own directorial ventures, Raju Hirani seems to have immersed himself in producing films for other directors too. He is co-producing the forthcoming Amitabh Bachchan-Farhan Akhtar-starrer Wazir for Bejoy Nair and the Madhavan-starrer Saala Khadoos for director Sudha Kongara Prasad.

Concurrently, he is making progress in the Sanjay Dutt biopic which he had declared would be his next project. “I am still writing the script so we are working on it. We will shoot the film next year.” As regards the casting, Raju says, “I have not met anyone for the casting; I have only spoken to Ranbir.”

Moreover, Raju also has his heart set on directing his screen hero, Amitabh Bachchan. “I am working on a script which I will be done with hopefully by the year-end. Thereafter I will approach him,” he informs. “I am a big fan of Amitabhji. As a child, I would speak like him, get clothes stitched like him, and listen to his recitations of his father’s poems. When he came to my place, he recited his father’s poems which I have recorded ... it is a precious possession. I would love to direct Amitabhji now; I have directed him in two advertisements. It is difficult to direct him, but I am looking forward to work with him.”
