Deepika Padukone On Board MAMI

Deepika Padukone may be a big commercial star, but she has repeatedly expressed her willingness to do out-of-the-box films like Finding Fanny and Piku and support cinematic experimentation.

Her latest endeavour in this vein is to join the new board of trustees of the MAMI (Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image) film festival, which has been held annually in Mumbai for over a decade now. She joins luminaries like Anurag Kashyap, Kiran Rao, Farhan Akhtar, Karan Johar, Riteish Deshmukh, Sidharth Malhotra, Vikramaditya Motwane, PVR Ltd’s Ajay Bijli, industrialist Anand Mahindra and critic Anupama Chopra.

Deepika enthuses, “MAMI is one of India’s leading film festivals and I am proud to be part of this festival. It’s a wonderful space to discover and nurture fresh talent, build audiences and interact with other talent from across the world.” The 17th MAMI fest will be held from October 29 to November 5. Look for Deepika to lend some much-needed glamour to the fest.
