One of the best aspects of Dil Dhadakne Do is the warm camaraderie portrayed between Ranveer Singh and his elder sister Priyanka Chopra.
We asked Ranveer to describe his relationship with his real life sister Ritika Bhavnani and the articulate star spoke about her in a voice suffused with emotion.”My sister and I share a very special bond,” reveals Ranveer. “But our relationship has come through many different phases. While we were growing up, she was protective of her little brother. Then came a time when we were both in the same school and we would be like ‘You move, no you move’ ... so we had that antagonistic phase. However, once I went away for college, it started changing again and we became friends.”
After Ranveer returned from studying abroad, the filial bond has been strengthened. Ranveer laughs, “Today, what it has evolved into is that she is not like my sister anymore, she is like my second mother! And ya, I am really transparent with her.”
Ranveer says his life is an open book for his sister. “She knows everything about me and I don’t even think about it for a nanosecond before I vomit everything out to her about my life ... everything!” says Ranveer. “It is a very transparent relationship and that’s something I want to keep nurturing. We are closer than ever before now, touch wood. I am so happy that my life and my circumstances have come about in such a way that it allows me to be close to my sister.”
And Ranveer is no longer just the kid brother. He asserts, “I am really protective about her. She is like my maa...she is my life. What more can I say?”
