Taapsee Pannu's next, 'Pink' to be a landmark film in her career

A popular actor in the south, Taapsee has gradually gained a niche in Bollywood too. After Chashme Baddoor (2013) and Baby (2015), she is now looking forward to Pink, which she claims will be a landmark film for her.

“I don’t think people take me as cute and bubbly anymore after Baby and Pink,” says Taapsee who started with the David Dhawan comedy, Chashme Buddoor. “Pink is very close to a Delhi girl. It was both easy and difficult for me to do this film, easy because I have stayed in Delhi before coming to Mumbai. But it was also difficult because this film has taken a piece out of my heart. It was heart-wrenching. This will be a landmark for me in all possible ways!”

The women-empowerment-themed Pink took an emotional toll on Taapsee. “For the two months that I was shooting, I was not doing anything else but concentrating on this film,” she states. “There were times when I probably had a breakdown off the set as well for no reason almost ... because you feel so close to the character. It was extremely impactful, and it did affect me on a very personal level.”

The meaty role, however, was taken up as a challenge. Taapsee says, “When I have to stand in the frame with Amitabh Bachchan, I had better be good. I got to share screen space with him so early in my career! It was so much fun to work with him.”
