Aftab Shivdasani has two movies coming up in 2016 – Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 and Great Grand Masti. And both the films are adult comedies.
But Aftab shrugs off any talk of being slotted in a genre. He insists, “I am not bothered about images because audiences are far too intelligent to slot you anymore. I started with Mast, did Kasoor and then adult comedies ... I have played all sorts of roles. Had I only done adult comedy, then there would be cause for concern. But people have seen me in different genres; they know what to expect and where to appreciate. I will soon be starting Tom Dick and Harry which is again a sequel but it’s not an adult comedy. If tomorrow I do a thriller like Kasoor and if it works, then they won’t remember Kya Kool Hain Hum and Grand Masti until the next Grand Masti comes along.”
Speaking of the Masti three-quel -- Great Grand Masti -- Aftab reveals “It’s ready we will release on March 25, the first look will be out soon.”
And he is confident that both the adult comedies -- Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 and Great Grand Masti – will be starkly different from each other. “They are very different!” Aftab says. “As Tusshar pointed out to me, Umesh Ghadge (the KKHH3 director) is a protege of David Dhawan so Kyal Kool Hain Hum 3 is more in the David Dhawan zone but slightly adult. While Grand Masti is in Induji’s zone (director Indra Kumar) They are both great comedy directors but the zones are a little different.”
