Genelia is my favourite co-star: Riteish Deshmukh

Comedy star Riteish Deshmukh is back with another funny film Great Grand Masti.

Apparently, you had said that you would not do adult comedies after your son was born...

I didn’t say that. My choices of films have nothing to do with my son.

What’s new about the third film in the franchise?

I have done a horror comedy for the first time. This genre hasn’t been explored much recently; it is a big genre that we have been missing out on.

Was there any pressure with regard to censorship?

By the time Grand Masti came, we knew the kind of censorship issues we had; so in Great Grand Masti, we made sure we stayed away from those issues. We focussed on a very strong plot.

Do you find it disheartening that the film has been leaked??

No comments on this as of now.

You have tried all genres, but comedy has brought you the most success...

Earlier, there were many comedy films; but later, I started getting offered different kinds of films. Now, half the offers I get are for comedy and half are for other genres which I am exploring.

Have you been offered negative roles after Ek Villain (2014)?

Surprisingly not. A negative role has to be special. I have done films like Lai Bhari (2014) and am now doing Banjo, so it has given me the confidence that the audience is willing to see a so-called typecast actor doing other genres.

When do we see you working with your wife Genelia on screen?

Even I want her to work soon, but she is busy making babies (laughs). I am waiting because she is my favourite co-star. I really enjoy working with her. She has done films in so many languages and it would be my dream to do a Marathi film with Genelia.
