Post Aranmanai-2, Sundar C is busy with Tamil-Telugu-Hindi trilingual Sangamithra, which has Arya and Jayam Ravi in the lead. Initially, Vijay was approached with the offer, but due to some reasons, he turned it down. We hear, the makers are planning to make this one on “a higher budget than Baahubali.”

An official statement has confirmed that AR Rahman has been roped in to compose music. A source informs us, “The film is a well-packaged fictionalised historical drama. Sundar C has been researching on the subject for a long time and this is one of his pet projects.

The team is in talks with a few top heroines including Sonakshi Sinha and Deepika Padukone. Though they have been approached, nothing has been finalised. By the end of June, the shooting will begin. Since the film will have a pan-Indian appeal, we’re keen to bring in renowned actresses.”

On the other hand, reports suggest that both Jayam Ravi and Arya have been instructed to learn horseriding and swordfighting for their respective characters. City Express learns that Sabu Cyril is on board for art direction, besides Vairamuthu on lyrics.

Sudeep Chatterjee will be the cinematographer and  Kamala Kannan will supervise VFX-related work. As of now, pre-production is on, and the team seems to have finalised some of the locations abroad including Denmark, Ukraine and Iran.
