Double Academy Award-winning composer AR Rahman wrote on his Twitter page that he is “delighted to have been shortlisted for the World Soundtrack Awards Public Choice Award for Viceroy’s House.”

The award allows fans across the world to cast their vote for what they consider to be the best soundtrack of the past 12 months.

Set in 1947, Viceroy’s House, directed by Gurinder Chadha, revolves around the story of Partition, and features Huma Qureshi, the late Om Puri, Hugh Bonneville, Gillian Anderson and Michael Gambon.

Sources say it chronicles the last six months of Mountbatten’s tenure in India, which marked the end of the British Raj.

Extensively shot in Jodhpur and Rajasthan, the film will release as Partition: 1947 in India on August 18.
