Lipstick under my burkha to be screened at IFFLA

A lthough Alankrita Shrivastava’s Lipstick Under My Burkha has been in the news in India for the wrong reasons, it has managed to impress the festival audience, organisers and juries too.

Although Alankrita Shrivastava’s Lipstick Under My Burkha has been in the news in India for the wrong reasons, it has managed to impress the festival audience, organisers and juries too.

Recently the film won an award at Glasgow Film Festival and now it has been chosen to be screened at The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA).

The festival official announced its galas and 2017 lineup of narrative and documentary features, and short films for its 15th annual festival, from April 5-9. 

IFFLA will open with the film, which stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur in the cast. The festival closes with Shubhashish Bhutiani’s debut feature, Hotel Salvation, starring Adil Hussain, which is making its Los Angeles premiere.

The festival will also showcase some interesting short films and documentaries including Karishma Dube’s Devi, starring Priyanka Bose, Miles of Sand featuring Tannishtha Chatterjee.

Apart from this, Konkana Sen Sharma’s Death in the Gunj (2015) starring Gulshan Devaiah, Kalki Koechlin, Om Puri, Ananya Kasaravalli’s The Chronicles Of Hari and many others will also be screened.
