Badrinath Ki Dulhania opens well at box-office

Badrinath Ki Dulhania has opened well at the box-office and the movie raked in around Rs 12.25 crore on its opening day.

The Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt film recorded the second biggest opening in terms of occupancy in the morning shows, and did manage to show a substantial growth in the evening and night shows.

The film has done well across the country with UP and Bihar being the best performing territories followed by Mumbai. Badrinath Ki Dulhania is also doing well in places like Gujarat, Patna, and Rajasthan and is set to record a healthy opening weekend.

The opening day would have been around 10 percent higher had it not been the exam period. However the word of mouth should make up for the initial shortfall.

The day one collections are little lower than Jolly LLB 2 which raked in Rs 13.06 crore.  The Shashank Khaitan directorial is already a profitable venture for producer, Karan Johar whereas distributors, Fox Star Studio too will make reasonable profit in the long run.

Given the controlled economics and good opening, the film could easily attain the hit tag by Tuesday, but it would be interesting to see if it enters the coveted Rs 100 crore club.
