‘I Am Sorry Mathe Banni Preethsona’, which was withdrawn within 3 days of its release, will hit the theatres again.

If everything goes as per plan, the film ‘I Am Sorry Mathe Banni Preethsona’ will hit the silver screen once again. The film was released in last June and withdrawn from theatres by its producer-cum-director Ravindra within three days.

Many considered this a peculiar act because most directors and producers have been complaining about the non-availability of theatres to screen their films. However, Ravindra had hurriedly organized a press meet and asked the exhibitors to stop the screening of his film. He attributed the unexpected release of another Kannada film ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan’. Incidentally, Prem was the hero in both the films.

Now, the stage is set for the re-release of ‘I Am Sorry Mathe Banni Preethsona’. Encouraged by a vernacular daily report, two enthusiastic fans — Nadagouda Biradar of Bijapur and Leela Shankar of Bangalore — have decided to re-release it.

Recently, an exclusive screening of ‘I Am Sorry Mathe Banni Preethsona’ was arranged for Rebel Star Ambareesh. “I was thrilled to see Ambareesh sir, who agreed to watch the film with the intention of going home after an interval or even before that, remain in the seat from the beginning to the end. He appreciated the quality and content of the film and opined that it deserves a rerun to reach the maximum number of people,” said Ravindra.

It is learnt that Ravindra had included one more song sequence to attract more of the young and adolescent audience. Young and energetic Sanjana had worked hard to ensure that the steamy song — ‘Kuni kuni’ — would entertain the glamour-starved audience. “I am happy to know that ‘I Am Sorry Mathe Banni Preethsona’ is set for release again. I hope that the audience will encourage this film,” said Sanjana.

Its audio was also relaunched at Bowring Institute recently. While Prem turned up late, actress Sanjana was present on the occasion. The other heroine, Karishma Thanna’s absence was conspicuous. Karsihma told this correspondent over the phone from Mumbai that she was very happy to know about the arrangements being made for the rerun of ‘I Am Sorry Mathe Banni

Preethsona’.

“I could not attend the re-launch of the audio function due to my other commitments in Mumbai,” said Karishma. Expressing happiness over the arrangements being made for the rerun of ‘I Am Sorry Mathe Banni Preethsona’, actor Prem said, “It is a good sign. I hope the audience will encourage this film.”

The other re-releases

‘Gun’

The scene of actor Hareeshraj standing on top of Santosh theatre and threatening to commit suicide is still fresh in the memory of Bangaloreans. Hareeshraj considered that was the best method to influence the proprietor of Santosh theatre who decided to stop the screening of Gun and make way for Sudeep’s film ‘Kempe Gowda’. Despite Hareeshraj’s efforts, the film was withdrawn from not only Santosh theatre but also across the state.

After a gap of a few weeks, producer and actor-cum-director Hareeshraj made arrangements for the rerun of ‘Gun’. However, the film bombed at the box office with cash registers remaining on silent mode. The result — producer filed a cheating case against Hareeshraj.

‘16 to 60’

Shakeela, the sex siren of the 1980s may be a taboo for the family audience. But her film ‘16 to 60’ was considered to be manna for producer Satyanarayana and director Ramamurthy who were neck-deep in debt. Both of them reluctantly made arrangements for the rerun of ‘16 to 60’ at States theatre in 2007. The craze for Shakeela among the audience enabled the film to complete 100 days of screening.

As sign of gratitude, they invited Shakeela to celebrate the success of ‘16 to 60’ in Bangalore. While addressing the gathering, Shakeela had said that she had forgotten about the film ‘16 to 60’. She thanked Bangaloreans for encouraging her film without any bias.
