The story makes a star: Sanchita Shetty

In 2010, when Thillalangadi hit the screens, Sanchita Shetty arrived and she followed it up in style with Orange. But having seen success in Tamil and Telugu, this Bangalore girl, who also made a short and sweet appearance in the blockbuster Mungaru Male, seems to be clear about her priorities.

She says, “The acceptance level was good in Tamil industry and so I have been stuck with doing more films there. With time, every industry is easily accessible, provided there are people who believe in newcomers and new talent,” said Shetty, whose next Tamil flick, Soodhu Kavvum will be releasing soon.

“The movie is directed by Nalan Kumarasamy of Naalaya Iyakunar fame and I am paired opposite Vijay Sethupathi,” she said.Sanchita has not taken up any Kannada projects from past 3 years and she states that her one film, Gaganachukki is yet to see its release. “I should be at a place where my profession takes me,” she said.

According to Sanchita, her entry into the industry was not by chance, luck nor a dream come true. “Initially this glam world did not attract me much as I was busy with my studies. Later I was offered a few supporting roles in Kannada. It was Thillalangadi that plunged me into the industry, full time,” she said.

The actress is currently shooting for Pizza 2 - The Villa to be directed by Deepan Chakravarthy. “If you recall, Pizza which was made with a budget of Rs 1.5 crore, but garnered over Rs 8 crore at the box office. In fact, the remake rights were bought in all four languages including Hindi. Now I feel more responsible by being part of this film,” said Sanchita, who also clarified that Pizza 2 will not be  sequel. “This is more of a horror movie. Realising that the expectations will be the same, is keeping me more involved in playing the role of Aarthi in the movie.” she said. At present Sanchita is enjoying her stint in Kollywood, not deeply looking into star value. “Newcomer or a known face, ultimately it is the story that makes everybody a star. I have now been offered a three movie deal from the same banner which will keep me busy till next year.” she said.
