Losing weight can cost dear to some actresses and it so happened in the case of Erica Fernandes who is out of Kannada movie, Airavata. It was director AP Arjun who took the decision of giving Erica an early exit. He says, "The movie comes first to me and I can't compromise anything for the film. Darshan has worked hard to get into the skin of the character. Unfortunately, in the case of Erica, she could not fit into the frame along with Darshan. This was mainly because she had lost too much weight. I had actually told her to put on weight and gave her a few tips too, which I guess she could not follow because of her other commitments. For the sake of the film, I had no option but to drop her," says Arjun.
Erica is still not aware about the status of her role in the film; she claims she has not received any official confirmation on the matter.
The actress got a whiff of it when she was on the sets, shooting for two days, before she headed to Mumbai.
"I don't know whether it is a rumour or it is confirmed whether I am out of the project. I have received calls from a few media people asking me about it. If it is true, I request the directors or the producers to inform us well in advance so that our time is not wasted. It would be ethical if I would get an official confirmation from the team before I know it from the others," she says.
However Arjun tells us that he had a discussion with Erica, before she flew to Mumbai. He states, "I had an open discussion with her. I told her that they both (Darshan and Erica) did not look good together in a frame. But I still mentioned to her that I would look at the footage of the two days shoot and decide whether she will be in the film or no. Unfortunately it was not working out for me. Erica is a good girl and a talented actress, but I didn't want to compromise for the sake of my film."
