Rakshit to Revisit Malgudi with Sudeep

Sudeep's association with Rakshit Shetty for Thugs of Malgudi shows that Ulidavaru Kandanthe, in spite of not being successful at the box office, was noted for its quality.

The star officially announced that he would work in a film directed by Rakshit on the Bigg Boss show. The young talent tells us how Thugs of Malgudi happened. “Sudeep had called me around the time I had released the trailer and songs of Ulidavaru Kandanthe. He had told me that irrespective of what happens with the film at the box office, he would want to work with me. Later, he also took time out of his busy schedule to watch the film and appreciate our effort. Discussions were held and I explained the subject that I had in mind to him. He liked what he heard and sealed the deal.”

The director further adds, “Though it is officially announced now, the film will only go on floors in August 2015, as both of us have a packed schedule till then.”

According to Rakshit, Thugs of Malgudi will be a story based in the pre-independence period, with Malgudi as the backdrop. “I have always been a huge fan of Shankar Nag and his directorial serial, Malgudi Days. The film talks about what happens during the Quit India Movement. It will be a classic film with commercial elements and I will also bring in thugs. I am confident that Sudeep will do justice to the role,” he says.

Meanwhile, Rakshit has his hands full and is busy prioritising. “I am about to finish Vaastu Prakara and will start on Rikki with Rishab Shetty in September, followed by Yaka Raja Rani produced by K Manju. I will be also working on a project with Sidlingu director Vijay Prasad. Another project is in the pipeline. All of these films will consume at least 10 months of my time. After I am done with them, I would want to take a three month break to work on the script, before I start on the film with Sudeep,” he says.
