BANGALORE: Late D Rajendra’s Babu’s dream came to life when the team of Aryan successfully completed the film and had a gala audio release on June 9. The senior director who was due to direct Aryan with Shivarajkumar in the lead died of a heart attack in November 2013.
The film was later taken over by director Gurudutt and he completed the remaining portions of the film with actor Shivarajkumar’s help. Everyone present at the audio release including Rajendra Babu’s wife Sumithra, Raghavendra Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar, the producers, Dhrub Das and Kamar remembered the senior director. “Rajendra Babu’s death is a loss to the industry but I am sure he is always there around to bless us,” said Shivarajkumar, who revealed how Aryan came to him.
“Aryan was a story told to me 10 years ago by D Rajendra Babu but was discussed and finalised only last year with producer Dhrub and Kamar. They wanted me to do an action subject, but I was not prepared during that time as I had already done a series of films like Kadipuddi, Bhajarangi, which were based on action. I was more inclined to do a love story and then the Aryan script was reopened. The story was developed with a sports background and I have attempted to play a coach in the film.”
Shivarajkumar admitted, that Aryan has a simple story done in a unique style. “It is always difficult for a director to complete another director’s work. But Guru took it up as a challenge and completed it successfully. Since I knew the story of Aryan, I was there to update him. Since the film is narrated in a flashback, it was confusing. Guru improvised on the story further and the film is finally ready. Though Aryan arrives late, it will not lose its charm,” Shivarajkumar says.
He adds,“Everyone in the Aryan team has made an effort towards completing the film. It was nice to work with choreographers, Adil Shaikh and Harsha, Thriller Manju and Ganesh have come up with some good fight stunts while Jessie Gift has given us some melodious songs for the lyrics written by Kaviraj and Chandan. We have tortured Kaviraj so much for some good lyrics and he obliged by coming to our office each time when we requested.”
The cast includes heroine Ramya along with Raghu Mukherjee who plays an important role in the film.
