Prem puts his films on hold for elections

Prem, who has established himself as a director and actor in Sandalwood, will now mark his entry into Kollywood. He has been cast in a bilingual film being made in Tamil and Kannada, to be directed by L P Suresh. Ilayaraja will score the music. Prem confirms the news and says, “Yes, I will be making my Tamil debut with a love story. The producer Srinivas found me suitable to play a local character. I understand Tamil but I am not fluent in it. I accepted the project since it is both in Kannada and Tamil.”

However, the director-actor has kept both his Kannada and Tamil projects on hold to be with his wife Rakshita during the upcoming general elections. Prem says, “I was supposed to start shooting for My Name is Byre Gowda, which will also see senior actor Ambareesh anna in a major role. Since he is hospitalised, we had to postpone the shoot and will start only when he has fully recovered. I had also signed a film with Auto Raja director Udaya Prakash. All this will have to wait as I am all set to campaign for my wife Rakshita, if she chooses to stand for the election. A lot of discussions are taking place with she wanting to contest from Mandya, and an announcement will have to be made as early as possible. Since I am a native of Mandya too, I will be campaigning with her. I will only start shooting for my films after the elections are over.”
