A Challenging Love Triangle

Director Pavan Wadeyar touched upon the genre of comedy with Govindaya Namaha and went on to make two commercial flicks like Googly and the recent Rana Vikrama. Now, he is helming a triangular love story, the likes of which Sandalwood hasn’t seen in a while.

Jessie, starring Dhananjay, Parul Yadav and Raghu Mukherjee, will deal with the issue of caste and religious differences that hinder middle-class love.

“Romantic films like that were a rage in the 90s, and the best example of a triangular love story is Nammoora Mandara Hoove. We haven’t seen films like that in the recent times. Helming Jessie will be a challenge for me,” says Pavan.

The first look of the film shows Dhananjay as Jessie, a Christian boy; Raghu Mukherjee as Shyam Prasad, a techie who comes down from Australia, and Parul Yadav as Nandini, an orthodox Brahmin girl.

Pavan plans to start shooting on July 15 and hopes to wrap it up in one schedule. The filmmaker is looking for greenery and rains in the first stage of location hunting. “I am currently in Kerala, looking for a spot around backwaters,” he says.

In an effort to add rhythm to the romance, Pavan has penned two songs and had Anoop Seelin compose the tunes.

“I am looking for melody and a couple of peppy numbers. Anoop has done a fantastic job. I am sure the album will be something different,” he says.

Pavan didn’t have big stars in mind for the characters in his story.  “When I was writing these characters, I pictured a few faces and these up-and-coming actors came closest to my mental images,” he says.

Actors Avinash and Ramakrishna, along with comedians Sadhu Kokila and Chikkanna, will also be part of the film.
