After a Dry Spell, Rashmi Lands Namagagi

Rashmi, who hit the limelight with Duniya, will agree that patience is a virtue that pays at the right time. Having waited for quite a while to get another perfect break for her career, the actress has finally found her big outing with director Raghuram.

The director has picked her for his upcoming film, Namagagi, which has Vijay Raghavendra and Radhika Kumaraswamy in the lead. Confirming the news, the director says, “I was looking for somebody to play a glamorous role in the locales of Singapore and Malaysia. When Radhika’s costume designer, Anjali, showed me photos of Rashmi, who has had a complete makeover after Duniya and few other films, I knew my search had ended,” says Raghuram.

The director has narrated the script to Rashmi and the actress seems to have liked her role. “Her character comes in the second-half where she meets Vijay when he travels to Singapore. She has a face-off with Radhika in the climax, which demands a good deal of acting skill. I feel that their combination will come out well,” says the director, who has also looked into the ‘R’ magic (names of all main characters in the film start with ‘R’, and Vijay has the letter in his surname) in Namagagi. “I realised it after I chose Rashmi,” he says.

A song without a choreographer?

The director is busy shooting a song sequence in and around Bengaluru with Radhika, Vijay, and Raghuram themselves choreographing the dance sequences for music composed by V Harikrishna. “The song was originally woven around a few romantic dialogues written by me, which have now been converted into a song. The song will be one of the attractions of my film,” says Raghuram.
