Going by Masterpiece’s strides towards raking in the moolah within a short span of time, it is evident that with Yash, the producer just does not worry about cash. Going by results given out by the production house, Yash’s Masterpiece directed by Manju Mandavya has set a new record with the film making an overall collection between Rs20 and Rs 22 crore within one week of its release.
In conversation with City Express, Yash stated that the audience is open to new concepts and that is what has been pushing him to attempt something new in each film. “I am sure everyone agrees that today the concept of 100 days has become outdated and it is more about revenue. But yet, a few of my previous films have completed 100 days with Mr and Mrs Ramachari completing silver jubilee. Collection and the running days are meant to benefit a film and is always an added advantage,” he said.
Considered to be a role model to his huge fan following, the actor insisted that his role in the film, with an egoistic attitude and shades of grey, is just a reflection of plenty of people who are living around us. “An actor who intends to give out a good message cannot be preachy. He has to first attract people and make them get into his shoes and then make them realise the difference between right and wrong in society,” he explained and asserted that the negative shade was deliberate to bring in a change in a hero’s persona. “I am glad that something new has been noticed. I would have been disappointed if people hadn’t commented on my arrogance because that has helped the movie and the intention of the film,” said Yash.
While the film is going steady across the country, the producers have planned to release it across the globe either on
January 9 or 15, 2016.
