Badmaash is based on newspaper reports

It seems like Dhananjay has channelised all his energy into his work with one project following the other. The actor who has become an expert in multitasking is wasting no time before starting his next project, Badmaash from today. Dhananjay who has just returned from Thailand after shooting for Boxer is all ready to face the camera again without a break.

Akash Srivatsa, the director, had earlier made a short film Sulle Sathya, which was much appreciated at international film festivals. Badmaash will be his first full-length feature film also starring Sanchita Shetty, Achyuth Kumar, Jahangir as well as a supporting cast of over 30 actors. “Badmaash is a character played by Dhananjay where he can cheat you with a smile. His beguiling character can actually deceive you and he is modelled after Krishna’s character in the Mahabharata,” reveals Akash who has completed 15 per cent of the shoot already and has shot scenes with Achyuth Kumar. “The major portions with Dhananjay will start from today,” he says.

Interestingly, Akash has developed his script from facts from the newspapers and turned it into a work of fiction. “I have put in two years of effort into the script of Badmaash, which is purely a city-based love story set against the backdrop of politics, cricket and media. Watching this film, you will feel like you are reading a newspaper where you start with current affairs and then get into crime, city-based stories and then follow it with sports and entertainment. Badmaash covers all the topics,” says Akash, adding, “Though they are many pages that come in the background, the highlight of the film is politics. We have tried to show the behind-the-scenes machinations at a politician’s house and how he functions. The various strands of the film come together in an interesting manner.”

“The female lead in the film has great depth and will be played by Sanchita. She is a Radio Jockey whose passion is to teach Kannada to non Kannadigas. This apart, Pannaga Bharana plays an important role with senior actors like Ramesh Bhat, B Suresh, Prakash Belavadi, Avinash Shetty among many others who create an impact with their presence in the film,” says Akash.

Since it is an urban film, the entire shoot will be covered in Bengaluru and as of now they have no plans to go to other locations. Cinematographer Shreesha Kuduvalli, who did Bahaddhur has been roped in to handle the visuals of Badmaash. “Judah Sandy, who worked with me in Sulle Satya is the music director of Badmaash. We will have five pieces with one song written by Yogaraj Bhat.
